Hungary's Gergina Pota tried, but couldn't win for the second year in a row the Unde-21 championship in the Brazilian Open. In the final she was overcome but the Korean player Lee Eun Hee, who got the gold medal, becoming the first champion of the 2006 edition of the event.

The match was balanced in the beginning and the Hungarian was more relaxed than Lee Eun and managed to win the first set 12/10. The following set the rhythm was the same, but this time who closed the set was the Korean player (13/11).

From then onwards, Hee commanded the match. She took advantage from the mistakes Georgina was making and won the two following sets (11/9 and 11/7). On the fifth set, Georgina tried to get back in the game and even made it harder for Lee Eun, closing it 11/9. However, the title went to the Korean player in the sixth scoring the same 11/9.
